What You Need To Know About The Alley Docking Exercise for Your Driving Test
The driving examiner will decide from which side you start your
first alley docking manoeuvre. The tester will show you where to go
in the yard once this has been decided.
While you are doing the alley docking test you may ask the driving examiner for another attempt if you feel you are not going to make it.
TAKE NOTE: You can only re do the alley docking if you do not hit any obstacles or mount the kerb.
Tips On Alley Docking; When Doing The Test
- Check your mirrors and blind spots.
- Signal intention (Indicate).
- Select gear.
- Obtain clutch control.
- Observe.
- Release parking (Hand) brake.
- Start moving.
- Check your blind spot in opposite direction to turning.
- Steer into the demarcated area without touching any
obstacles.
- Stop vehicle within demarcated area.
- Apply parking (Hand) brake.
- Select neutral.
- Cancel signal (Indicator).
How To Leave The Alley Docking Area
- Check your mirrors and appropriate blind spot.
- Signal intention.
- Select gear.
- Obtain clutch control
- Observe.
- Release parking (Hand) brake.
- Steer out of demarcated area without touching any obstacles.
- Cancel signal (Indicator).
