Instructor | What You Need To Become a Certified Driving School Instructor
The following information about becoming a certified and qualified driving instructor is according to the national road Traffic Act and Regulations (Act 93/1996). And it only applies to the Gauteng province.
Section 28B states that any person who wants to be a driving instructor must be first registered
In that case no person shall act as driving instructor unless he or she is registered in terms of section 28B. A driving school is not allowed to employ any person as an instructor, unless the person is registered as an instructor in terms of the section 28B.
How to apply for registration as a driving instructor?
Any person who wants to be registered as a driving instructor must apply to the chief executive officer. But note that no one will be registered as an instructor unless;
He has passed the prescribed driving instructors examination
Is of good character
Mentally and physically fit
Has to be medically examined
If you comply to the above, you shall only be registered as a driving instructor in respect of a class of motor vehicle which he or she is licensed to drive. The chief executive officer will only grade and register the applicant in the prescribed manner if the applicant complies with the above.
Suspension and cancellation of registration a driving instructor or driving school
The chief executive officer may, if he sees fit suspend or cancel the registration of a driving instructor, if that instructor;
Is guilty of misconduct in the exercise of his or her powers or performance as a driving school instructor
Failed to attend an appropriate refresher course at a training centre approved by the Shareholders Committee.
