The Truth About Driving Schools in South Africa
Tip for taking lessons with a driving school; Do not pay for packages (10 lessons upfront). What if you wake up and that driving school has moved, or after 3 lessons you don't like the way the instructors teaches you. So if you are on a pay as you drive you will be safe to pull out at any time or continue on your own level. And most importantly as your pocket allows, because I must confess these driving lessons are not getting cheaper hey!!! This is a quick tip on how to measure a legal driving school, if they don't have these, think twice before you continue their services
Many of the queries I get is of people who are complaining about driving schools that are eating their money and not delivering the finished goods. 2006 I did just that with another driving school, though I didn't do the 10 lessons package but I was ripped off.
Tip number 2; If you have taken close to 20 to 25 lessons with that driving school but still don't feel satisfied or having doubts about their professionalism. Please don't waste anymore time search around for a another driving school or call me, I may have something for you.
I have found out that we are wasting too much time and money on driving schools that have no interest in us the learners just wanting to make money.
I'm sorry If I will be exposing some people in the next paragraph, but it must be done!
After getting my learners licence for the first time, I booked my self to a driving school, which was very famous and from that perception I thought they must be really good and know their job. How do you know that the driving instructor is qualified to be taking you for lessons?
I first went for 15 lessons, the first 2 lessons I remember he was teaching me to drive, in a very quite place. Then followed straight yard testing manoeuvres, which is what we did for the rest of the 20 lessons. I didn't know it was wrong because nobody tolled me.
I went for my first drivers test, of course I failed because I was not taught the right way or practised enough.
Then they changed the instructor, Oh my God it was disaster! If you read my book you will see the points I have pointed out about young learner and young instructor.
I'm still on a mission of finding out where in the world did they find that guy? Because he also tolled me that he got his licence by bribing some examiner in ****. So the second time I went for my drivers test the guy actually had money with him "in case". You know the rest of the story....
But this shows how driving schools are out there to make money and not better driving people. But for those who are making an effort of producing good drivers and putting all they can into learners, please keep on the good work. I will be sure to reward you on my website.
