Ekurhuleni is At its Highest Point of Disaster With The Licencing Call Centre

Receiving the report from the Ekurhuleni Talks to the community February 2007, it was quiet clear that .mydriverslicence.co.za/licencefraud.htm">the demand for lethe demand for learners and drivers licences is daily adding to the problems that Ekurhuleni might not be able to solve in a blink of an eye.

The Ekurhuleni call centre was established in November 2003, with the aim of assisting people to get learners and drivers licence bookings. The public has been complaining about the system, because it seems to be failing to meet its actual functions for the province. A number of people cant get through the call centre because its most of the time engaged, or you call the number only to find that, you cant even get though.

The frustration of booking a driving test

Or if you get through you will hold on for more than 15 min and later be cut off the line. Sometimes you do get through after extensive minutes of dialling and holding on, to only find out that there are no bookings available at the moment, please try again later.

The officials in the licensing department say that the above problems are caused by the increasing number of people wanting licences and at the moment the testing centres in the Ekurhuleni have limited capacity to deal with such demands.

For example take Soweto and Soshanguve : there is no available testing centre in Soweto, people who want to write their learners or test fro their drivers have to go outside Soweto. And the testing centres that these people are sent to, are already full of the people residing in that area.

Apparently there are 10 testing stations and 38 testing officers in Ekurhuleni. And we have also found out that some of the testing centres in the East Rand, only have 4 drivers licence examiners.

In the Ekurhuleni talks to our community February 2007, the director of licensing in the Metro Vusi Thabethe addressed also that not that all this licence call centre problems are created by the system not being able to meet it full functions. But we the public, testing centres and driving schools are forming part of this. People not showing up for their learners and drivers licence tests, testing centres not meeting their obligations e.t.c adds to the Licencing problems.

The problem it is not that we cant get bookings for the learners and drivers test, but the whole circle of a person to get a licence form step one and until you hold your drivers licence card will have to be looked at, "Vusi Thabethe said"

I hear what the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is saying, so as the Premier of Gauteng, testing centres and the Licencing department!

But, how many Licencing booking systems have been said will be implemented and nothing is done about it. In the past 6 months the Licencing department have actually come up with great and promising solutions to the licence problems. Articles have been ppublished, telling the public to hang in there, its coming. But nothing, I mean nothing has come into action! .mydriverslicence.co.za/drivertestform.htm"> You have passed your learners! NOW Subscribe to the Drivers Licence K53 Preparation Series

People need driving licences, and with the number of calls I have been getting from the public, speaking about how difficult it is to get a licence. The whole thing is resulting into more uncontrollable crimes. With this report from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, I'm glad they release the problem and are contemplating a plan to resolve it.

My thoughts are:

What Vusi Thabethe said in this report it can actually help us, whilst the Licencing department is working on a system. Employ at at least more examiners for drivers test in testing centres. Increase again the hours of learners and drivers tests.
