"Enatis Licence System" The Public Has The Right to Know!

Judge Dion Basson dismissed Jeff Radebe and his Transport department from stopping the Beeld newspaper from publishing a story on Enatis and confidential security problems that it experiencing and could have been stopped.

An argument that was raised over this was that the department knew about this even before the system was to be implemented, there where reports that were sent to Radebe and Mpofu stating that there is an 80% chance of the system to fail. Both Radebe and Mpumi Mpofu denied receiving this reports. 400 Million Rand Enatis System Goes Wrong

In summary this is what the department of Transport didn't want the public to know;

  • It is possible for anyone to hack into eNatis;

  • One does not need a password to log on as an eNatis administrator;

  • Documents on eNatis are not secured;

  • eNatis files can be circulated unprotected without any problem.

So far the shortcomings of the system can be seen on our roads and at our testing centres. South Africans COMMENT

Von Solms reported to the news that if the security shortcomings still existed, the department should immediately switch off eNatis and sort out these aspects, before it could be used again. If the government continues to carry out like this, it will be an invitation for a crime syndicate to crack into eNatis.
