It is forecasted that Sandton Station will accommodate some 60 000 daily users by 2017. It is also anticipated that Sandton Gautrain Station will attract a mix of business users, shopper visitors from around South Africa, Africa and the world in general.
The fact that the Gautrain Station is very close to major and numerous hotels makes it an ideal location for not only business people but also the large volumes of overseas visitors that visit and stay in the Sandton environment. To facilitate movement from the Sandton Station, a circular dedicated
distributor service is planned for the Sandton CBD. However, a significant
number of people will also travel by means of dedicated feeder and distribution
services to the Sandton Station to access the Gautrain from activity nodes to
the west and north of the station. Feeder services are provided from areas such
as Cresta and North Gate.
These routes are in the area of Sandton CBD and are shown in the Sandton station
feeder and distribution map.
Facilities for public transport services and a substantial number of parking
bays, as well as car rental services have been planned for the Sandton Station.
