New Licence Fraud Measures To Be Incorporated By The Transport MEC Is About To Hit Gauteng Strongly!

Lately we have been experiencing licence fraud in the Gauteng region like it has never been seen! Bribing of instructors, people cant get bookings, issuing fake licences and at the same time busy producing reckless drivers. The transport MEC Ignatius Jacobs has introduced a new licence testing system aimed at stopping all corruptions at testing stations. This was due to the DA legislature proposed for an extension in testing stations operating hours, for people to test anywhere without producing their residential proof, and what many people might need, the learners licence's to be extended to 24 months validity, in an nutshell maybe this might limit the amount of licence fraud we are experiencing so far...

While this was being proposed as a solution to the licence fraud in Gauteng, the Automobile Association raised an important factor that cannot by any means be bypassed because this seems to be the cause of many licence corruptions. The problem of people trying to book for their driving tests using a call centre, this is creating ambitious acts for people to go and look for other licence means than to wait through a call centre that never gets picked about, if it does, there are no openings available (which its been claimed that some have been reserved for driving schools)!

The transport MEC Ignatius Jacobs didn't take the legislature proposed solution, and absolutely denied there was a problem with the Gauteng call centres. Because apparently he has proved information that many people are being processed by the call centre each month. He said the call centre would be linked to a national booking system from January 2.

Since Langlaagte testing centre in Johannesburg and Durban's Rossburgh testing centre have lead the news in licence fraud and corruption the new measures of a device that leads or guides the whole testing process will begin to operate in those areas. List of Testing centres in South Africa

Eliminating corruption in the learners licence

Because there's also corruption in issuing learners licence's Jacobs said a touch-screen computers which randomly selected questions from a choice of more than 3500 would eliminate corruption, since it did away with set answer sheets, which could be sold, he said. Mobile learner licensing units will also be used to take the tests to schools. Ten new stations were to be set up in 20 townships earmarked for revival.

Of course with the new system introduced this will mean that many operating driving schools will loose a lot of cash from learners who used to hire out cars from driving schools. “We are no longer going to allow driving schools to use their cars. We will provide vehicles fitted with cameras which will monitor them when they go out on to the roads.”

All this is to be incorporated January 2007... But will it stop the licence fraud in our testing stations?
